The cover art of "Trick Of The Light" is meant to evoke a sense of yearning
for the restoration of the cherished things we have lost in life. It is the
visual equivalent of ".the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen."

"A Trick of the Light" to me is the space we inhabit in our minds between
the real and the imagined. What was precious. What was lost and what might
be. I hope the listeners of this record can find that space.

In certain moments, our eyes will deceive us. There may be scientific
explanations. But perhaps it has something to do with hopes, fears, longings
or regrets that hide in the crevices of our psyches. Waking dreams. Tricks
of the light.

The actual meaning of 'trick of the light' is that what you are seeing is an
illusion caused by the way the light falls on what you're looking at rather
than the actual object.  As we look back upon the music we've made together
as a band over the last 34 years, our memories and feelings differ based on
our personal perspectives.  For this new album, I think we are all feeling
the music more similarly than we have in the past.  After a 15-year hiatus
from recording, that is a remarkable thing to be able to say.  I am grateful
that the light continues to fall upon us.

The Lost Dogs! Terry Taylor, Mike Roe, Derri Daugherty and Steve Hindalong
are back with a brand-new album called Trick Of The Light. We need your help
to bring it fully to life!

 

Earlier this year the guys got together for the first time in 15 years at a
studio in Portland, Oregon and spent nearly two weeks together working on a
new album. It's their classic sound with rich storytelling, lingering
melodies and lush harmonies that only come from decades of creating music
together. It's everything you love about The Lost Dogs with a fresh batch of
heartfelt songs that feel both familiar and exciting.

We're launching this Kickstarter to help fund the completion of Trick Of The
Light to be released on CD and Vinyl. Like so many independent artists and
their respective bands (Daniel Amos, The 77s and The Choir), The Lost Dogs
rely on their community of fans to help make projects like this possible. So
many of you have been loyal, passionate, and generous!

 

This new album is a celebration of friendship, faith and the music that's
carried all of us through so many seasons of life. It's a chance to keep
that spirit alive... not just for the band, but for the entire community of
fans who have been part of this from the beginning.

We'd be honored to have you stand with us and help make Trick Of The Light a
reality. Every pledge, every share and every bit of encouragement means more
