Prior to this, we would occasionally pass each other in an airport somewhere or appear on the same festival bill, but other than a passing acknowledgment, we’d never had a single conversation.</p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); color: rgb(40, 40, 40); font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Liberation Sans", FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5;">This changed the morning this pic was taken because I was the one designated to pick up Mike at the airport. What started off as general small talk on the way to the studio quickly evolved into a spirited conversation about shared memories of being from the Bay Area.</p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); color: rgb(40, 40, 40); font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Liberation Sans", FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5;">Mike had been born and raised there. My family and I moved from Southern Cal to the Bay Area in 1964. We found that, even though he was a little younger than me, Mike and I had both run in the same musical circles back then; both of us had eaten at some of the same restaurants, enjoyed the same local bands, and spent an inordinate amount of time at Guitar Showcase — the great music store that is still going strong.</p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); color: rgb(40, 40, 40); font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Liberation Sans", FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5;">No doubt Mike and I, as kids, had crossed paths a number of times without ever knowing it until the day the Dogs came into being.</p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); color: rgb(40, 40, 40); font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Liberation Sans", FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5;">Yep, you could say the collaboration worked out pretty well! I knew it would with the first song we rehearsed that day. I believe it was “Built For Glory,” and from the moment everyone fell into the tune, magic was in the air. And so it has been that way for decades now.</p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); color: rgb(40, 40, 40); font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, "Liberation Sans", FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5;">I’m deeply grateful to the fans for their overwhelming love and support regarding the Dogs’ Kickstarter campaign. As a result, we’ve been afforded the opportunity to come full circle with the rerelease of a newly mastered Scenic Routes.
