Series 19: NEW!
In this series, Hidary shuttles the viewer between both a macro and
micro perspective. You might be squinting through a microscope at a
Petri dish or gazing through a telescope at a cluster of galaxies
thousands of light years away. The blue photos capture light=20
penetrating deep into water. The gold images are actually water
droplets mixed with soap set on glass. Exposed to an extremely
bright light, the combination creates refractions and highlights
that might exist in distant nebulae. Hidary reminds us that although
the universe is so vast that we can't even compass it, universes are
also contained within a single atom.

"Celeritas" (series 20) NEW!
"Celeritas" is the Latin word for celerity which is what the
variable 'c' stands for in Einstein's famous equation, E=3Dmc2 with
'c' representing the speed of light. Violent yet deliberate motions
of the camera are used to draw the patterns that make up this series
of photographs. For Hidary, this body of work is based not just on a
spontaneous formula (space x time x color =3D object); it is also an
exploration based on Einstein's well-known equation, E=3Dmc2. Einstein
explored the most overlooked source of energy: matter. Contained
within matter is the equivalent energy of its mass (m) multiplied by
the speed of light (c) squared; a vast number and therefore a vast
amount of energy. By obscuring the form with which these familiar
pieces of matter express themselves (based on the laws of physics
that guide their physical appearance) a dynamic energy is revealed
which is no less than an expression of the equation. Hidary reminds
us that photography is very much akin to painting or sculpture,
using light and film as paint, clay and canvas. By taking this
analogy literally, he creates otherworldly shapes and patterns,
playfully examining the nature of light and matter, i.e., energy.

In this series, Hidary shuttles the viewer between both a macro and micro p=
erspective. You might be squinting through a microscope at a Petri dish or =
gazing through a telescope at a cluster of galaxies thousands of light year=
s away. The blue photos capture light penetrating deep into water. The gol=
d images are actually water droplets mixed with soap set on glass. Exposed =
to an extremely bright light, the combination creates refractions and highl=
ights that might exist in distant nebulae. Hidary reminds us that although =
the universe is so vast that we can't even compass it, universes are also c=
ontained within a single atom.

"Celeritas" is the Latin word for celerity which is what the variable 'c' s=
tands for in Einstein's famous equation, E=3Dmc2 with 'c' representing the =
speed of light. Violent yet deliberate motions of the camera are used to dr=
aw the patterns that make up this series of photographs. For Hidary, this b=
ody of work is based not just on a spontaneous formula (space x time x colo=
r =3D object); it is also an exploration based on Einstein's well-known equ=
ation, E=3Dmc2. Einstein explored the most overlooked source of energy: mat=
ter. Contained within matter is the equivalent energy of its mass (m) multi=
plied by the speed of light (c) squared; a vast number and therefore a vast=
amount of energy. By obscuring the form with which these familiar pieces o=
f matter express themselves (based on the laws of physics that guide their=
physical appearance) a dynamic energy is revealed which is no less than an=
expression of the equation. Hidary reminds us that photography is very muc=
h akin to painting or sculpture, using light and film as paint, clay and ca=
nvas. By taking this analogy literally, he creates otherworldly shapes and =
patterns, playfully examining the nature of light and matter, i.e., energy.=
