        Re. rigging going slack.....Has your mast step ever been =
reinforced?  Frers 33's were notoriously soft in that area.  If not, you =
might be just pushing the mast down into the boat.  ( A structurally =
sound and well tuned 33 should go to windward like a scared rabbit.)
