I am volunteering to coordinate our class for this event since Kurt handled the Nationals, and this event is not in his immediate region. Can we get a count of who is planning on going this year? Brilliant is in, and I understand Bon Coeurs is as well. We have quite a number of boats on the Sound, and the Larchmont event is a great opportunity to show the sailing community that this class is alive and well, as well as having a great time racing. Let's see if we can surprise everyone with a large turn-out. I understand that in the past, the Frers-33s only sailed Sat & Sun. Last year I hear that the best sailing was on Friday. Of those planning to attend, what's the chance of adding Friday as well. I don't want to do this if it will cost us entries, but it increases the chances of good sailing time so may be worth the effort. Optionally, we can try to arrange with the organizers that a partial class sails Friday, but those races don't get counted in the final results - we can use it as practice. If you are thinking, "I'd like to go, but I don't have enough crew", let me know and we'll start helping you beat the bushes. There are folks from MD to MA who would be interested in crewing, so let's leverage that. Personally, for the Newport I was lucky enough to get crew from two other Frers-33s and it was a tremendous benefit to learn how things are set up and done on the other boats. Please send me your responses as early as possible so we can make this a banner event. I resigned myself to not getting a one-design division together for it, but if we can get enough boats, then I'll beat the bushes to get crew. My primary goal is to ensure we turn out a NOODs division. If I can get crew together to do both, I will, whether one-design or PHRF. I'll get back to you on YRALIS Champs, but happy to hear that you're in for Larchmont. How about the rest of you out there? Any other takers to show Western LIS how strong our class is? Art, Persistence will be at the NOOD, and would prefer to only sail Saturday and Sunday. I am also planning to compete in a new regatta this year, the Championship regatta organized by YRALIS. It's August 28 & 29, and looks like PHRF will sail out of Riverside YC. I'm wondering if there is any interest among the Western LIS boats in competing & perhaps even getting our own division? I will also be sailing in the Greenwich Cup, the week after the NOOD. From a crew perspective, I'm probably covered for the NOOD, but would be interested if there are any F33 sailors, especially sail trimmers, interested in either the Championship or in the Greenwich Cup. Thanks for organizing this, I look forward to seeing you on the course.
