For our boats, with their vintage hull shapes, 20 degrees or less of heel
which means in anything over 9 knots you need lots of beef up on the rail.
I've also found in lighter air 7 knots or less under spinnaker dead down
wind healing the boat to leeward will rotate the spinnaker out from behind
the mainsail, into clean air, and you'll go about 3 to 4 tenths of a knot
faster.  You have to hold the mainsail out because the heal to leeward will
make the boom want to slide over to the wrong side.
