I wanted to ask the group about the small head windows I've seen in just =
a very few of the Frers 33's. Has anyone installed a window or were the =
windows I see already built in. Also has anyone had their boom =
replaced. The boom on the 33 is oval shaped which is not a very strong =
shape and as such requires a much thicker walled tube. I can barely =
pick up the boom for my 33 and figure it weighs somewhere in the =
vicinity of around 70 pounds. I have looked at this extensively and in =
particular just went to the Annapolis boat show last week and noticed =
the booms on the C&C 9.9s are rectangular with a much thinner wall and =
probably around 30 pounds lighter. If anyone has had their boom =
replaced let me know. I think if you're swapping aluminum with aluminum =
then there shouldn't be a penalty although for you folks racing one =
design there might be. BTW for anyone that's interested at the show =
they had vinyl covered BPO rigging that could replace the rod rigging =
currently on our boats. Don't have all the details on cost yet but it =
would take around 50 pounds off the boat. Stuff would need to be =
inspected at around 4 years and probably replaced at 6.

Thanks,
