Happy New Year everyone! It's almost time to think about planning the next season. Of course, I for one finally got the cover on the boat last weekend. Not too late, eh?
I have made the following changes in the class web site this evening:
1. The FAQ section is now open. I've posted Don Bottaro's rudder bearing replacement instructions, as well as my ramblings about my experiences trying to follow his instructions while cutting a few corners.
2. In the Rules & Diagrams section I've posted what appears to be early promo materials for the boat with several pages of designer's notes. These were supplied courtesy of Jonathan Morse.
Please feel free to contribute more materials and I will post what I can. The FAQ section really needs some bulking up.

I have just added some additional items to the FAQ page that I culled from prior email threads. PLEASE, if you have any other threads or tips, send them on and I will post them.
I have also added a full sales brochure including the 1990 specs of the boat in PDF format. This is a large file so it will take a while to download. I may play with it another day to try to shrink it.

Lots of discussion and info trading going on.
Everybody looking forward to getting back in the water? Great skiing (Cannon Mt, NH). Anybody else skiing?
New stuff for the boat.
Fusion M 135?%
Considering Harken 44st's. (pyacht has best price) Comments.
Rudder bearings (got info in FAQ's)
Tankless water heater (CNG). Anybody done one recently?
Does anybody have the L shaped settee as presented in the plans?
Also, in some of the boats (see Vapor Trail, photo of stern above letter "L"), there appears to be a vent. What is this?
Thanks
Jonathan

That "vent" is a man overboard pole launcher. It was an option.
Here are a couple of quick links if you are unfamiliar with the concept.

Subject: [frers-list]$580.00 Anderson 46 ST winch upgrade

Hello all,
Saw the inquiry about the winch upgrade. We did it and its made a big difference, particularly with ladies I have trimming. I also have a story that will get you the best price. Say about $580.00 a winch for Anderson 46 Self Tailors. Heres how I did it. And it's all legal.
1. Attend the Strictly Sail boat show in your area and stop by the Anderson booth. Make sure that they have some sort of rebate program. At the time I believe it was a $100.00 rebate with an old winch as a trade in. (Note here that they don't need your replacement winch, just an old winch.). I like the Anderson and they were rated # 1 by the Practical Sailor Magazine.
2. Call Defender industries (defender.com i think). Every year they run a huge sale. The Anderson winches are normally low priced with them but they have this sale in either Feb or March and they price of the winch dropped to $980.00
3, Buy the winches from defender. Make sure they enclose the rebate form.
4. Take off your old primaries and if you want, switch them out with the cabin top halyard winches.
5. Sell the old cabin top winches on ebay. I got $300.00 for the old cabin top non Self Tailors. Some guy in seattle loved them for his catamaran.
6. Buy on Ebay the oldest cheapest single stage winch you can get . Somebody is always selling some piece of junk justto get the last $10.00 for it.
7. Send the ebay winches back to Anderson with the rebate certificate. Collect the $100.00.
So add it up. I paid $980.00 from defender, deduct $300.00 for the winches I sold and another $100.00 for the rebate. 580.00 net price. Who said sailing is expensive.
Now I need to work the same scam for sails.

In the early 80's I managed a Ski shop in Maryland and frequented a pub in Eastport called Marmadukes. Anybody know if it's still around?
