Mark,
See the FAQ section of the web site for detailed info.
Hull #55 had a rudder post of 2.490", and a housing size of 3.025 (ID of
tube bushing fit into). The dimensions of the tube as manufactured depends
on how you are fitting the tube (press fit or slip) and the material. I had
the bushing machined to an OD of 3.033" and an ID of 2.511" for Vesconite
HiLube "press fit" by chilling the bushing in dry ice, and slipping into the
housing tube. Once it warmed, the bushing was firmly embedded. Vesconite
has a calculator for this on their web site. This is a South African
company specializing in bearings/bushings for ships, but custom machining
and shipping was cheaper than a US product that the manufacturer (Tides
Marine) was unconvinced would serve the purpose. Others have gotten the
work done domestically.
MEASURE YOURS FIRST!!!
Also check both articles posted to fully understand the process before
ordering parts.
