Hi Bob,

Spies welcome. Please refer to our Tuning Guide posted on the site.
Suggested wind ranges and sail selection are mentioned there.

I have owned a Frers 33 for two full seasons and raced it a lot in a variety
of conditions (64 races this season). I am not familiar with the 36 but if
it sails similar to the 33 here are my recommendations for sails:

1. One good racing main with at least one set of reef points. If the
3DL is in good shape you may want to talk to your sailmaker about putting in
a set of reef points, I wouldn't bother with the second set.

2. One good light air genoa (155%)

3. One Blade/#3 (98%)

4. One small heavy #1 or a big #2. We use a 142% genoa (commonly
referred to as a #2). This sail is a must in winds between 12 and 18 kts I
find above 12 kts the #2 makes the boat point well and you don't have a lot
of heel. At the upper end of this wind range you can even go with a reef as
well and the boat really trucks well.

5. One runner spnnaker and one AP spinnaker

That would do it in my books. After that lots of practice in deciding which
sails to use based upon wind strength, sea state, # of crew, etc.

Regards

Rod Stright

S/V Equinox.
