Hi fellow Frers 33 Owners, Skippers and Crew,

It was really great to see 8 gorgeous Frers 33 yachts racing this past
weekend at Branford/Pine Orchard. Congratulations to Edgar Smith and his
crew for a stellar performance under variable conditions which ranged from
almost no wind to winds of 15 to 20 kts with gusts in excess of that. Three
of us from Equinox here in Halifax Nova Scotia made the 13 hour drive to
Branford to crew on Frers 33 and we certainly enjoyed ourselves and it was
well worth the 26 hours of driving. I think the fact that everyone was back
from last season, some with a new boat and some with the a newly purchased
boat is testament to the fact that we have a strong class and a great bunch
of competitors. In summary a really great boat but an even better group of
people. I believe it is a real tribute to Jim Mormile and his efforts to
reactivate class racing. I'm sure he was smiling from his vantage point.
Well done Jim and thanks again for your effort and dedication to the class.

Since we drove a total of 26 hours just to crew on other boats I'm hoping
that some more boats will make the effort next season to get 10 or 12 boats
on the line. I would like to thank all those who participated and
especially Branford and Pine Orchard clubs for making it happen and the
countless number of volunteers it takes to run such an event.

Bravo Zulu to all involved, Jim thanks again for the inspiration and
leadership and to Dave and Art for their continuing support and leadership
in keeping the class active.

In the next few weeks we will be putting together a questionnaire to see how
we can make the class even stronger and get more Frers on the line for next
season. If you have any suggestions do not hesitate to let me know as we
have active Frers from Florida to Nova Scotia.

Fairs Winds and best wishes for a successful 2011.
