Hi Fellow Frers 33 owners,
Hope those of you in the north have your boats out and covered while those
in the south enjoy year round boating, what a treat.
I am in the process of sorting out the racing schedule for Equinox for 2012.
While we have driven from Nova Scotia to Branford the past two season to
crew on other Frers we are contemplating taking Equinox down to race with
her sisters, a long trip. In addition to Branford I notice that NYYC Race
Week at Newport is scheduled as follows:
July 14-22
NYYC Race Week presented by Rolex
July 14-15
Classics, 12 Metres, 6 Metres
July 18
Around-the-Island Race
July 19-22
Handicap and One-Design classes
Our portion would be July 19-22 and possibly July 18th for those interested
in the Around-the-Island Race. I understand that this race has been used in
the past for the Class Championship and am wondering how many Frers 33
owners are interested in doing it in 2012. Since it is a four day regatta
there would be lots of racing and it is a fairly prestigious regatta, it
would be great to see the class back there. We don't have any Rolex
Regattas here and I don't believe there are any in Canada period.
I understand that it is a big commitment but at this time we are just trying
to get a handle on how many are interested in attending NYYC Race Week;
hopefully, in a Frers 33 Class.
With such an event we are hoping we can persuade those from further away
than to participate and make a trip of it.
Give it some thought; I know Art Kelley akelley@optonline.net and Dave
Nauber dnauber@classeaudio.com have done it before, so let us know if you
are interested in participating in NYYC Race Week at Newport.
