Out Of Reach has a 9 gallon Todd hard polyethylene tank mounted on a platfo=
rm =0Atabbed to the hull and centerline bulkhead under the port v-berth.=A0=
A Whale =0Adiverter valve (Y-valve except it's not a Y) allows for straigh=
t overboard or to =0Athe tank.=A0 The tank can only be emptied through the =
deck pumpout.=A0 =A0=0A=0AI am thinking of adding another Y-valve in the ta=
nk output for overboard =0Aemptying of the tank, but it's getting to be mor=
e of hassle then it's worth.=A0 =0AI've considered=A0using either=A0a manua=
l Whale waste pump or a macerator pump but =0Aeach has it's=A0disadvantages=
.=A0 The manual pump is=A0bulky=A0and the=A0only good place =0Ato mount it =
is=A0aft of the tank which then blocks the access to the knotmeter =0Atrans=
ducer below.=A0 The macerator pump has a 1" discharge, and to date I have n=
ot =0Afound a tee reducer that is 1 1/2" x 1" x 1 1/2" to place in the exis=
ting=A0hose =0Athat goes to the through-hull.=A0 Even choosing a mounting p=
lace for the 2nd =0AY-valve is a challenge.=A0 In either solution operating=
the pump and Y-valves =0Arequire access to the space under the v-berth (li=
fting cushions and stuff).=A0 In =0Athe macerator pump setup I would place =
the switch close by so I could watch the =0Atank being emptied to avoid run=
ning the pump dry.=A0 =0A=0A=0AAnyhow, here's two good links about boat san=
itation systems.=A0=A0Note the=A0emphasis =0Aon getting ]enough air to the =

n I was looking to buy a Frers four=A0years ago, I saw about 1/2 dozen =0Ad=
ifferent boats from Maine down to Maryland.=A0 Two boats had hard plastic t=
anks =0Ainstalled forward, under=A0the v-berth on the port side.=A0 They we=
re both custom =0Afits.=A0 The largest tank was about 5 gallons and had a s=
hape that generally =0Aconformed to the hull of the boat, ie. it was not a =
standard rectangular box.=A0 =0AThe installer of this rigid tank built a li=
ghtweight platform to rest the tank =0Aon and tabbed the platform to the hu=
ll.=A0 The plastic tank was strapped and =0Asecured to the platform.=0A=A0=
=0AMy boat has a bladder tank which I will change eventually.=A0 The previo=
us owner =0Aof my boat already installed the proper hoses, y-valves etc, so=
all I need to do =0Ais a simple tank change.=A0 In my research I found a c=
ompany in RI that =0Aspecializes in such things.=A0 Their info is below.=0A=

I've considered using either a manual Whale waste pump or a macer=
ator pump but each has it's disadvantages. The manual pump is&nb=
sp;bulky and the only good place to mount it is aft of the t=
ank which then blocks the access to the knotmeter transducer below. T=
he macerator pump has a 1" discharge, and to date I have not found a tee re=
ducer that is 1 1/2" x 1" x 1 1/2" to place in the existing hose that =
goes to the through-hull. Even choosing a mounting place for the 2nd =
Y-valve is a challenge. In either solution operating the pump and Y-v=
