Pachyderm is in. We've been using Kattack for every race this season. We =
use it on an iPhone. It does draw on the battery, but it has easily =
lasted through our races. Just charge up your phone before heading out, =
and remember to turn on the tracker before the start. It should last the =
day. I keep my phone in a little dry bag tied on to the binnacle. We get =
perfect tracks. I've noticed some boats have uneven tracks and I'd guess =
they are getting poor GPS reception by having the phone stowed below. =
When you set it up you just name your boat and choose the ECSA feed. I =
think they take care of matching you with the individual races. (Someone =
correct me if I'm forgetting anything). It is really fun to see the =
raced play back and as on friend put it "see where the wheels fell off". =
I've also used it to resolve two informal protests one while while we =
were race committee and one where we were fouled at a mark and disagreed =
with the other boat on the circumstances. In both cases, the track =
showed exactly what happened in amazing detail. To see the race you just =
go to the website the next day and click on browse all races click the =
Eastern Connecticut Sailing Association link and click the link for the =
race. By the way, you can see your own track during the race, but you =
only see the other boats the next day.
