The name of the boat in Chicago is Pepperke 2.0, moored at Jackson Park. =
Frank W. is owner. In regards to the pole discussion, How do you propose t=
o go from one system to another as the wind increases. Seems like you have=
to pick one and live with it. Normally, dip pole setups have different in=
board fitting at mast. Finally, if system allows photos, pictures are wort=
h 1000 words. My 2 cents

Good stuff here. We were end for end last year, tried to dip pole this
year, and let me tell you, unless it's blowing 30+, I see no point in a dip
pole on this boat. Anyhoo, I'm going to sheets only with twings in anything
below 15 and then to sheets and guys above that (depending on the bow
person that day anyway...). I will actually keep the twings on the guys in
that scenario (port to ports) so if it's a hot reach, the guy isn't
smashing the heck out of the stanchions.

Courtney, I couldn't agree more that you need to see some sister ships. In
the last year I've stripped the deck, rearranged hardware, gone down to
four winches, double led pretty much everything spin related (love a good
death roll...), changed everything to high tech cordage...I don't even use
blocks for my spin sheet and guy deflectors, I use Antal low friction
rings. I lead the sheets and guys way far aft and then lead them back
forward to a deflector and then to their respective winches. In face the
twing lines currently share the same deflector with the guys. I used to do
a lot of rigging so I'm sort of a nerd (and I get most of my parts at
cost...).

Anyhoo, love the convo. Thanks to all for the input. I'm going to have to
make my way out East to sail with everyone at some point. I just found out
there's another 33 in Chicago. I can't remember the name of the boat but
they race in a different circle on Wednesday nights and I haven't seen them
in the major regattas or any port to ports.

That's all for now from Chicago.

Cheers,

Michael Argyelan
