The rudder was laying on the ground when my boat was recently acquired
from the previous owner and so I have no visual reference for it's
reinstallation, even though I've read your FAQ info on rudder
installation. Even a crude drawing would be a godsend.
Anyway, the rudder's delamination is repaired and the keel reinstalled;
and I now need an understanding of what the.... immediately
prior-to-installation.... rudder and it's retaining structure,
optimally, should look like.
Also, any current sources for bearings, etc. would be helpful as well.
As far as I know, it is the original rudder and hull setup for a 1990
wing-keel version of the Frers33 and the boat is currently sitting on
it's trailer for the installation. But, at this point, all I have is the
rudder, and a quadrant which is laying aside the hull's retaining
structure inside, and is connected to the wheel by cable. I don't even
have the bolts, etc. to reassemble this humpty dumpty. Anyone have a
hardware list and specs for all this ?
The rudder post has what appears to be... a slipped-on and fiberglassed
onto the post... coupler, or connector-like, tube about maybe 5 " long
in the vicinity of the rudder post's hull insertion aperture as the post
is therein inserted, but prevents the post from being fully inserted.
What is this and does it have to be driven into the hull or what ?
That's all I have, no bearings, etc....
Lost in Savannah :-)
Thanks,
Courtney
