The yard removed the teak trim around the lazarette and perhaps ground the edges some to get it out. My fuel tank is si= tuated under the port settee. Hardest part (not very hard) was getting the = settee sliding support board out of the way - required bending the board to= remove it from its slot. I then needed to disconnect and remove the fuel f= ill line, the lift pump lines and the fuel gage sender unit wires, all very= easy. Tank was held in by two straps, again very easy - two screws undid t= he straps and tank came right out. My tank is aluminum and was rotted throu= gh all along the bottom corner length, (tank is of triangular section). Cle= aned-up corrosion and had a local welder weld a 2 inch section along the le= ngth of the tank. Used some smooth garden pebbles which I shook (more slide= than shook) around the tank, to clean the inside of the tank and flushed i= t out for about 20 minutes with a garden hose. Cleaned-up really well. Inst= alled tank beginning of last season and touch wood, I have not had the fuel= supply issues I was having since.
