When you remove the quadrant, it should be on that part of the stock. Keeps t=
he quadrant from spinning on the shaft. I used a hydraulic car jack to contr=
ol the drop. If partway down now, jack back into place to find the key. Las=
t time I tried, the key was frozen in place. I knew my lower bushing was pre=
ss fit, so I just bounced the rudder up and down turning as I went and event=
ually the key pushed the bushing out.=20

e rudder stock on the cockpit sole, removed the quadrant from the rudder sto=
ck (four bolts) and keyway and rudder stock and rudder should drop down. Yo=
u will need to slack off steering cables from the quadrant. Place sawhorse u=
nder rudder to stop it from falling to the ground. Perhaps your system is d=
ifferent as some have made modifications. You may need to use some pressure=
to get rudder to drop out depending upon the type of bushings used and how h=
ey were installed.
