I have been trying to find out roughly when rod rigging needs/or should =
be retired. =46rom what I can tell some use it until they see their =
first evidence of a crack or corrosion or they just say use it no more =
than 20 years. I really have not had much experience with it before my =
boat. What have others done with theirs? One point to make, previous =
owners have not raced my boat and I only have a little for the past 3 =
years so it has not been heavily loaded.
I ask because mine is still original from 1987 years old but still =
appears to be in good shape. Planning to have it inspected this winter =
and also add a roller upfront. One rigger said he would replace it with =
cable for liability reasons. Another sailor says use it till you see =
first visible signs or corrosion or a crack. Planning to talk with my =
local rigger at my marina for their thoughts as well.
Thanks for any advice,
Frank
