I love the boat and didn't want to sell it, but this spring my wife and I h= ad a beautiful baby girl, and so between the new baby and the challenge of = competing and finding good crew to operate a symmetrical spin race boat in = western long island sound where almost all the boats are asymmetrical it wa= s time to pass the torch onto someone new. With Southern Cross we competed in a lot of events such as Edgartown Around= Martha's Vineyard race, Edlu & Stratford Shoals races, Stamford Denmark Ra= ce, Around Long Island Regatta, and countless other small events and wed ni= ght club races. Southern Cross also took home plenty of trophies in the time I had her, wit= h the most notable being an Around Long Island Doublehanded 1st followed by= a 2nd the following year, and a season 3rd overall finish for the 2022 YRA= LIS du Moulin Cup Double Handed Distance Racing award. I also cruised the = boat from Nantucket to New Jersey and all points in-between averaging aroun= d 1500nm per year on the boat. The Frers 33 remains a very solid platform to compete and sail all these ye= ars later.
