The brochure delivered with the container indicates that the containers =
need to be at least 4 feet away from any other object and 10 feet from =
parked cars.=20
Last week a large number a residents did not leave enough room around =
their garbage and recycling containers. As a result the driver had to =
frequently get out of the truck and move the containers. This week they =
will be putting stickers on improperly placed containers and next week =
they will not pick up containers that they can not reach with the =
automated arm.
At the Town Hall, we have both the blue recycling container and the =
green garbage container in all three sizes. If you wish, bring your =
cleaned container in and trade it in for one which is a better size for =
you.
Except for those qualifying and paying for manual pickup, Green Valley =
no longer picks up garbage or recycling in non-standard containers.
Cleanup days (April 5th in the north and April 6th in the south) are =
nearly hear. On clean up day you can dispose of most of the bulk items =
listed on the brochure for no additional charge. The exceptions are =
items containing refrigerants (Refrig, Freezer, Air Conditioner, =
Dehumidifier) for which there is a $40 charge. Gary's Appliance =
(221-1150) will pick up these items for a $15 charge.
With the single stream recycling (no bagging or tying) and with Green =
Valley accepting more material, recycling in 2005 has increased =
significantly over the 2004 figures.
