Hello,
As you may have noticed, there is a larger than usual =
number
of branches waiting to be picked up and chipped. After three days, =
the
crew is just starting on Cherrywood. We expect that the initial =
run that
started on Monday may not be complete until Thursday of next week. =
I
suspect this is due in part to heavy snow causing damage to various =
trees.
Please bear with us as we continue to work away at =
the branches.
With all these branches, we have lots of chips. =
Please
call us at 833-5887 if you would like to deliver a load (or more) =
delivered
free to your yard.
Two agendas for next =
week:

The new Tax Assessments are now available!
Most assessments in the Town have not changed. If you made changes to
your property that have changed its value, you should have received a
letter (mailed 4/17) from our Assessor indicating the change in value.
If you wish to check a current assessment, those figures, including
changes for 2008, are available on Dane County's website
. You may also come by the Town Hall to look at the
assessment book during normal business hours (M-Th, 8:30-4:00; F,
8:30-Noon).
If you feel that your assessment is incorrect and does not accurately
reflect the value of your house and/or lot, please address these
concerns with the assessor at Open Book which will take place at the
Town Hall on May 1st from 5:30 - 8:00 P.M. Appointments are preferred;
please call 712-2847. If you have other questions, call the Town Hall
(833-5887).=20

Other news:
Weather Radios are now available at the Town Hall for #23.21 including
tax.

Bulk Pick-Up
Just a reminder that Bulk Pick-Up is next week on your regular trash
day. If you have any large items, or have just gotten the
spring-cleaning done and have lots of little ones, now is the time to
get rid of them. Most items will be taken. There are exceptions for
some appliances, particularly anything with Freon such as air
conditioners, refrigerators, freezers or dehumidifiers and for TVs or
CRT Monitors.

Road Maintenance
The crew has been working on "Pulling Shoulders" where they pull the
shoulder material out on to the road, push it back in place, grade it
and then sweep the road clean. This is a standard maintenance procedure
for insuring there is proper support of the road edge. If this was done
along your yard, there is probably a strip of gravel at the base of you
driveway. This can be swept off to either side. We apologize for this
extra effort.

Dane County Sheriff's Office has informed us that there have been
several car "break-ins" recently in the southern part of the town.
These are opportunistic events where people, apparently on foot, are
checking for unlocked cars and removing contents. In the past, there
have been cases where the perpetrator has used the garage door opener to
gain entry into the garage and house. Fortunately, this has not been
the case recently. Please remember to lock your cars at night.=20

Blackhawk Road repairs are going to be delayed for a year. We have
partnered with the City of Madison to work on the repair of Blackhawk
Road (any of you who drive it know what terrible shape it is in). Since
parts of the road are in the jurisdiction of Town of Middleton, City of
Middleton, and the City of Madison, it would be difficult, if not
impossible, to do just those portions that are within the Town. What we
are trying to do is have the bulk of the road reconstructed and then
apportion the costs. Unfortunately, the City of Middleton is not able
to come up the funds to pay for their portion, as it was not budgeted.
These problems arose after the Municipal budgets were finalized. We
plan to reconstruct the road in 2009.
