Centurion Cycling, in conjunction with Greater Madison Convention and
Visitors Bureau, is looking to hold a cycling event in August; the dates
have not been decided at this time. This event, which is expected to
attract approximately 3000 riders, would close Airport Road for about 30
minutes at the start of the event on both Saturday and Sunday. After
the start, the road would be open to just one lane for another 90-120
minutes. There would be another partial closure as the race concludes.
Volunteers and the Dane County Sheriff's Department would coordinate
traffic. =20

The Town Board is looking for reaction to this proposal. We are
especially interested in opinions from residents who live south of
Airport Road and would effectively be "Boxed-in" for the duration of the
road closure (emergency vehicles would be allowed through).

The Town Board will be discussing this proposal on February 1, 2010,
starting at 7:00 P.M.
