The Spring 2011 Town of Middleton newsletter alerted town residents to
the Town Board's intent that all town properties be reassessed. This is
the first reassessment in 20 years and is made in response to many
recent appeals by town residents that real estate values, as determined
by our Assessor, Paul Musser, are no longer accurate in the current
housing market. The reassessment process began in May, 2011 with the
mailing of postcards to successive neighborhoods and will continue into
early 2012. =20
=20
A key component in ensuring an accurate reassessment is viewing home
interiors as well as exteriors. This ensures that the numbers resulting
from this activity are fair and comparable between the various
dwellings. The postcard allows homeowners to set up appointments with
the assessor at a time that is reasonable for both parties to view the
entire property, including home interiors.
=20
This will be a time consuming job for Paul. A timely response to the
postcard by you is important to meet project timelines. Resident
participation during the walk through of the property will minimize
questions and/or concerns later once reassessed values are published. =20
=20
Please respond to these postcards by setting up an appointment with Paul
Musser at 712-0236 as quickly as possible after receiving these
postcards. In this economy with low home pricing, it is to your
advantage to have your home assessed as completely as possible.
