This is a reminder that "Open Book" is taking place now through May 7. You=
may inspect the 2015 preliminary assessment roll at the Town Hall, Monday =
through Thursday, 8 A.M. - 4 P.M. and Fridays, 8 A.M. - Noon or by going on=
line to assessordata.org<http://assessordata.org/>. This "Open Book" inspe=
ction period is set aside to correct errors made in compiling the assessmen=
t roll. Owners who disagree with their assessment should personally discus=
s it with Town Assessor:
Paul Musser
P.O Box 620213
Middleton, WI
608-712-0236
musser.apprz@frontier.com<mailto:musser.apprz@frontier.com>
If there is evidence that your assessment is more than the actual fair mark=
et value of property, Paul will review the pertinent facts and make appropr=
iate adjustments. The best evidence of value is a recent sale price of the =
property or the sales prices of comparable properties.
If you disagree with Paul's decision, you may proceed to a formal hearing b=
efore the Town's Board of Review which is made up of the Town Board. Simila=
r to a court, the Board of Review is responsible for resolving differences =
of opinion of valuation. After hearing the evidence, the Board may decide =
to lower, raise or sustain the assessment. If you wish to make an appeal t=
o the Board of Review, you must, per State Statute, notify me 48 hours in =
advance of the Board of Review Meeting (effectively by noon on May 15th). =
In addition, a completed Objection Form (pa-115)<https://www.revenue.wi.gov=
/forms/govtvc/pa-115af.pdf> must be given to me before the initial Board of=
Review meeting or within two hours of its start. It is scheduled for 7:00=
P.M., May 18, 2015.
Board of Review decisions may be appealed to the Department of Revenue or D=
ane County Circuit Court.
