Homeowners in the Town of Middleton,
We recently have noticed an increase in landscaping company's use of the st=
reet to temporally place materials such as mulch while in the process of us=
ing these materials in homeowners landscaping projects. While we understan=
d that the road allows these materials to be placed in an area that will no=
t disrupt the movement of vehicles in and out of residential driveways and =
garages and will not risk staining concrete, this practice is unsafe, is ag=
ainst Town ordinance 9-3-2(d) and is unacceptable. The road's purpose is t=
o convey traffic. These materials can easily block an entire lane of traff=
ic and not allow drivers to see around. In addition, the associated person=
nel and equipment such as bobcats, truck and wheelbarrows adds to the distr=
action. We are enforcing this law in order to avoid accidents and injuries=
.
Please find a location within your property that is convenient and safe for=
your contractor to use. If landscapers are interfering with normal traffi=
c, we will at a minimum ask them to move the material onto the lot. We may=
issue citations if this practice cannot be curtailed.
