Litho Printmaking Workshops 
@ Muskat Studios, Somerville, MA

Pronto Plate Workshop
October 7 & 8, 12 - 4pm
Cost:  $ 100 per person; max. 3 people

In this workshop students will learn how to make lithographic prints using Pronto plates instead of traditional stone and aluminum plate techniques.  The advantages and limitations of these plates will be covered, along with color printing skills. All materials, including 2 plates (can be cut down to four), inks, and drawing materials will be provided.  Students are responsible for bringing paper for printing.  Some paper will be available for sale at the studio, as well as additional plates.

Workshop limited to three participants.  Must have at least two participants to run a class.

Jen Percel received her BFA from Mass College of Art and completed the Tamarind Summer Program.  She was awarded a Dorland Mountain Arts Colony residency, and has shown her work in several regional exhibitions.

Stone Litho Workshop
Dates:  Class is held on Thursday evenings, 6:30 - 9:30pm, 
with Saturday work times, 12 - 4pm
Thursdays: October 19, 26, Nov. 2, 9
Saturdays:  October 21, 28, 4, 11
Cost:  $ 500 per person; 4 person limit

Lithography (printing from stone) was invented just over 200 years ago.  The stones provide a wonderful surface, and offer a wide range of mark-making possibilities.  This class will explore traditional black and white stone lithography.  Each student will be provided with a stone, drawing/painting materials, and inks.  Students must provide their own printing paper.  Some paper will be available for sale at the studio. 

Class will meet each Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon for 4 weeks (8 sessions in total).  Thursday evenings will focus on demonstrations.  Saturdays will be supervised work times for students.

Workshop limited to four participants.  Must have at least two participants to run a class. 
  
Instructors:  Carolyn Muskat & Jennifer Percel

Carolyn Muskat, owner and Master Printer of Muskat Studios, has over 20 years experience with lithography.  She currently teaches at SMFA, MassArt, and AIB.  Jen Percel has been assisting at Muskat Studios for over 6 years, and is a regular instructor here.
