If these look like yours, go to the SS link I give here-all you have to do 
is fill in the blanks, and then you can request a copy of the SS 
application-they even fill out a form you can print out.
The SS will name parents and mothers maiden name, date and places of birth 
and other data that may help in your search.

Also, you should be able to find them on census records which will give you 
more data. The Dallas library has all the census for the US, especially Texas.

I was able to check Texas 1920 census for Edwin & Jewell and did not find 
them by either first name or middle name or initials. The 1930 census is 
available thru your library's Interlibrary loan service, or better yet, if 
you have a Mormon Church Family History Center, try there.

Keep us posted of your findings! If you can locate Edwin Earl's father, It 
may be early enough for me to help.
