Hi Jerry,
May I presume you are referring to Abraham Monroe Shelby, who married Ida
Josephine Bond, in Hickman Co, TN, 12 Oct 1876?? If so, I can take you
back a couple of more generations, but haven't been able to tie them to one
of the known Shelby's -Rees is a slim possible..

I noticed your comments with
reference to the connection to the Alabama State Senator Richard
Shelby of being the great great grandson of John Rufus Shelby and
that JR migrated to Dallas County Alabama. Well, this really caught
my attention because I live in Selma Alabama (Dallas County) and I
have been researching my SHELBY line. It is interesting to now see
the connection to where this reference I had received several years
ago to the Shelby's riding into Dallas County "riding fine
horse's." I will have to look that up later to see where it
came from. I will also have to visit the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian
Church just north of where I live. I wish I could say that this is
my Shelby line, but I can't. I am still looking for a (documented)
connection to my great great grandfather Abraham Shelby of Hickman
County Tennessee (born in the Carolina's). I had a Hickman County
web site volunteer to say that Abraham can be traced back to Rees
Shelby (per LDS records), so far I have not found anything to confirm
this. I do want to make a trip to Charlotte North Carolina to
research this more. Do you have any idea of where I could possibly
start? I know the library will probably be my first stop. I
did also want to say as it was mentioned from a lady from this
l last digest, the name of the ship that Evan and his family
came over on, if possible would be great to have. I better go for
now. Thanks so much for keeping us informed with new information on
the Shelby's. I hope to talk to ya later.
