Re Iowa.  

I ordered a microfiche of the first of three volumes of

Declaration of Intent to Become a Citizen, Dubuque County, Iowa 1832-1906

I think the first volume goes up to 1853.  

I haven't had time to look, though it arrived weeks ago, so I don't know
what sort of detail is included.  I just know that Daniel, Arthur and
Augustin Day made declarations in 1849 and 1850.  I imagine that all the
other earliest Somerset settlers here (Dyerseville/Farley/Cascade) would be
included, too.  Don't know when I will have the opportunity to look, but if
anyone has a name they'd like me to check on..........
