I'm new to the discussion list and am the process of buying a Frers 33, in fact it's under agreement awaiting my acceptance. However a preliminary survey shows high moisture readings in the side decks along the genoa tracks and the chain plate attachments. On the port side it's a pretty large area about 8' long and a foot wide; on the starboard side it's about 4' long and a foot wide. There a few small soft spots in these areas as well.
Ok, so what's the question? I'm wondering if this is a faily common problem and if so what, if anything, is usually done about it, and at what cost? I've got to make a decision on this boat in the next few days.
Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. I've always liked and admired the Frers 33 ever since sailing with Al Karenko when he owned Wolverine.
