Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to try until I found this place. The covers are only 10 cents each and the plastic ring that goes on the screw is an additional 10 cents. Shipping is free!!! I just got the first 10 I ordered and the color for the Frers is antique white. They also have 24 carat gold plate and I may get them for the mirror in the head. They're 30 cents each. I take a lot of abuse for all the money I spend on the boat so I thought it might be a cool joke to by 10 of them for $3 and put them in the head and tell everyone that I went all out with 24 carat gold.

I had the same problem.....couldn't find cream colored snap caps. From the hardware store I got a spray can of a suitable color, and sprayed the caps ( off the boat). Worked OK, but yours is the proper solution.
Krylon recently came out with a spray line for plastics called Fusion. Should work better than what I used.
