With regard to the cockpit bilge pump, I cut a circular hole near the pump =
and installed an access plate large enough to disconnect and remove the pum=
p for servicing. Its tricky as you need to secure both ends of the hose so =
as not to lose them.=20
The electric bilge in the cabin was more complicated. I installed a small R=
ule pump at the deepest point in the bilge and ran the output hose into the=
=C2=A0area under the sink in the head. I connected the output to the drain =
for the lav sink in the head. You also have to install a vented loop to pre=
vent back siphoning into the bilge. I learned this the hard way, but everyt=
hing works well at this point. As far as using the bilge pump located in th=
e cockpit, it's still connected and yes, it takes forever to pump the water=
out by hand.=20

Hi Fellow Frers 33 Sailors;=20
Hope you all had a great season. =C2=A0We've had the Tuning Guide posted fo=
r a few months now. =C2=A0I have a few minor changes to finalize it (rig me=
asurements) so if anyone has any additional suggestions please let me know.=
=20
The second item I have relates to some problem areas relating to bilge pump=
location and operation.=20
=C2=A0=C2=A01.. The manual bilge pump is located on the port side of the co=
ckpit just aft of the wheel and discharges overboard near the waterline. =
=C2=A0Convenient location but a long haul for the water to get overboard. =
=C2=A0I seem to be loosing suction. =C2=A0Difficult area to get to. =C2=A0H=
as anyone experienced this problem and if so how did you rectify it?=20
=C2=A0=C2=A02.. Electric bilge pump located under the port settee with the =
discharge port side aft just above the manual bilge pump near the gunwhale.=
=C2=A0There is a float switch in the bilge and a strainer in the hose befo=
re it enters the pump. =C2=A0Either the pump is too small, not working prop=
erly or the discharge hose is too long. =C2=A0The result is that even if th=
e bilge is full it takes forever to empty it using the electric bilge pump.=
=C2=A0Wondering if everyone has the same arrangement of if some have moved=
the bilge pump discharge location closer to the pump.=20
Thanks in advance for your replies.=20
