Hi Fellow Frers 33 Owners,
=C2=A0
Some additional information from Brad Dellenbaugh, Sailing Director at New =
York Yacht Club with respect to Regatta Week at Newport 2012.=C2=A0 I am at=
taching my email to him and his response.=C2=A0 Again if you are considerin=
g racing in the event let us know and if at all possible your preference fo=
r how many days.=C2=A0 If I take Equinox down I'd want to do the 4 days if =
possible.=C2=A0=20

=C2=A0
Dear Rod,
=C2=A0
Thank you for getting in touch.=C2=A0 We=E2=80=99d love to host the Frers 3=
3 Class during our Race Week.=C2=A0 The dates in 2012 are July 14-22.=C2=A0=
The first weekend overlaps with the Sail Newport Regatta and we will only =
be racing the Classics, 12 Metres and 6 Metre classes.=C2=A0 Our Around-the=
-Island Race is on Wed., July 18 and is open to all competitors with no ent=
ry fee.=C2=A0 [Note: we are also helping Jamestown YC organize an expanded =
Tuesday night beer can race on the 17th].=C2=A0 Race Week for both one-desi=
gn and handicap classes will run July 19-22.=C2=A0 One-design classes can a=
rrange to have a four-day, three-day or two-day regatta depending on the Cl=
ass needs/desires and having the regatta be the North Americans might help =
attract more boats.=C2=A0 Typically our minimum is 8 boats for a one-design=
start, but we=E2=80=99ve run a start for fewer=E2=80=A6and since the one-d=
esign and handicap overlap, you could easily roll into a handicap class, bu=
t also score as a one-design class within
that if you wanted.
=C2=A0
We haven=E2=80=99t set entry fees yet, but it varies depending on the size =
of the boat/crew and the number of days.=C2=A0 Newport is a bit expensive i=
n July, but there are some less expensive options.=C2=A0 I=E2=80=99ve attac=
hed our logistics sheet that has some details. =C2=A0In the past we have al=
so blocked the Alofsin Piers at Sail Newport for boats to stay at during Ra=
ce Week and this if far less expensive than any of the marinas.
=C2=A0
Perhaps it might be attractive to your class members to put together a few =
regattas that week with a variety of sailing and a few days off in between.=
