Greetings Once More !

I see where Brian Toss in The Rigger's Apprentice says that galvanized 
cable is fine as long as you stay on top of the maintenance
of which I have no experience but do understand his pertaining 
recommendations.

How did you determine your rigging (rod?) needed replacement ? In my 
case, I have no information on my rig's history.

How does the cost of replacing the rod with cable compare (I assume the 
rod's a lot more) and from whom was it purchased, please ?

All caveats and suggestions regarding cable or rod standing rigging are 
appreciated.

And lastly:

     My running rigging was missing when the boat was purchased and so 
must be entirely replaced. Where can I get a full description of a
recommended setup for cruising, please ?

By the way, I anticipate almost entirely southern latitude cruising for 
this boat.
