Ours is similar to Dave=92s but the traveller block is now Garhaurer and =
the
turning blocks on the sides of the coaming are Harken with Garhaurer cam
cleats. Their stuff is excellent and very well made.

Hi Mike,
=20
I=92d definitely try to get your traveler arrangement changed. The =
attached
shows how it=92s done on Wolverine. As Rod says, you should find answers =
in
the tuning guide but let us know if something is not clear or =
unanswered.

Checkstays
=20
These are new to us since we have always had boats with swept back =
spreaders
and fractional rigs. =20
=20
How do people tend to use these on the Frers 33? Do you leave them off
completely in lighter wind or use them anyway for better pointing?
=20
Has anyone moved the attachment point further forward on the toerail? A
suggestion yesterday was that we could move them forward to an area near =
the
primaries and let the jib trimmers run them. Also suggested that a =
longer
and lighter line thru the blocks would allow us to keep them in this
position downwind by letting off a lot of line. Add to this a strong =
bungee
to pull the block forward to near the shrouds when fully eased. =
Currently
we have heavy thick line and we attach at aft end of toerail and then =
detach
and run checkstays forward to middle stanchion base for downwind. =20
=20
=20
Mainsheet traveler.
=20
The attached photo shows the traveler system on persistence. Cam =
cleats at
right angle to ends of track with line pulling on a horizontal plane at =
seat
level. Am finding that cannot be adjusted while sitting on the coaming
because difficult to cleat from that angle and the angles for pulling
traveler to high side are not ideal. Works best when standing in the
cockpit which seems wrong. A simple (but not free) solution would be to =
add
the windward sheeting adaptor to the car. Other thoughts?
=20
Boat
=20
The Frers 30 seems very forgiving on the helm in that it does not have a
narrow groove upwind. We have found that with good sailors aboard the =
boat
is very easy to sail and is not as difficult to dial in as many other =
boats
that race. Really enjoying the boat and love that it is a hotel inside =
to
boot! =20
=20
Note that we have applied to register the boat in Canada under the name
Persistence. They have approved Persistence V so this will make it =
easier
to keep track of this boat=92s history and future =85.
