I am searching my SHELBY line from my father, Agle Dalton Shelby born in Dyer
County Tennessee (buried in Obion County Tn. "rose hill"), his father Willard
Herman Shelby born in Hickman County Tennessee (buried also in Obion County
Tn. "rose hill"), his father John B. Shelby born in Hickman County (buried
also in Obion County Tn. "berea church"), his father Abraham Shelby born in
either North or South Carolina (buried in Hickman County "old well"). I am
having a hard time trying to make a connection in the Carolinas with the
older census records. I know I am going to have to make a trip to Mecklinberg
County one day. I think my Abraham may be from the Rees & Mary Shelby line of
Evan and Catherine...emigrants from Wales....but do not know that nor able
to prove it or disprove it.. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I
have census records and death records that can bring me to Abraham of Hickman
County. The census records of 1870 Hickman County show my great grandfather
John B. Shelby, born in 1861. Abraham also had a son named "Abraham".
