Judy,
We will not be going until next May. In the meantime I am gathering as much
as I can on Tregaron and the Shelby's.
Johnnnie sent a copy of her book "A Chronology of Moses & Isabel Shelby and
Their Sons, and other information on Evan and Catherine Shelby to me awhile
back. (Thanks again Johnnie, I hope you are feeling better).
I have been ordering copies of documentation on my line from the Charlotte
Library (NC). I pretty much have documented my line. There is one weak
spot. John Rufus Shelby seems to have fallen through the cracks, as far as
documentation linking him to Moses and Mary Ann (Knox) Shelby goes. Johnnie
has a little information on them in her book, however, the copies of the
documents I received from the Charlotte library are unreadable, so I can't
transcribe them. I have ordered a copy of Mary Shelby's record of baptism
in Christ Church in Philadelphia which should be on the way.
I found out that the Christ Church has been open to the public since March
of this year, so Trev and I are going there in about a week just to go
through it. It (the original church) was built around 1728, I believe, and
George Washington along with other great Americans attended services there.
Benjamine Franklin is buried there. It has wonderful stained glass windows
(like the one in Washington, DC) with pilgrims, etc. telling the stories of
the founding of America. I will have photos from there also.
I will certainly be willing to send copires of my copies of any
documentation on the Shelby's I have to anyone on the list who would like
them.
