Hi Courtney,=0A=0AI'll get a photo of my deck tie-down this weekend and sen=
d it to you, but it's a pretty simple concept and I don't think it requires=
much precision. You just want to join the deck and mast in a way that can =
counter the load of the halyard turning blocks pulling up on the deck as th=
e rig loads up in breeze and waves. If the turning blocks are all on the ma=
st instead of the deck (not a typical arrangement) then you wouldn't need t=
his.=0A=0AI would stick with the rod rigging and just make sure it's inspec=
ted annually to identify potential problems before they fail. We have only =
replaced two turnbuckles so far (as they began to show stress cracks) so it=
lasts a long time. I don't think there is a performance benefit from alter=
natives worth pursuing and we race the boat fairly seriously.=0A=0AI've nev=
er seen a 33 with a wing keel, but I would expect its performance to be com=
promised as Frank says compared to the fin keel. If you cruise in shallow h=
arbors it might be worth the tradeoff, but if you're looking for better per=
formance, this would be an expensive but beneficial modification to conside=
r.=0A=0AI'm not sure what you mean about rudder vulnerability. Rudder failu=
re has not been an issue with the design. but I might be misunderstanding t=
he question.=0A=0AGood luck!=0A=0ARegards,=0A=0ADave Nauber=0AWolverine=0A=
