For a definitive answer you might reach out to Barrry Carrol who is still ac=
tive after selling the boat building business. I have always thought of the b=
oat more for coastal racing/cruising but with nothing to back that up. The c=
onstruction is moderately light. The phrase "reef early" comes to mind. I've=
 done 10'+ waves with reefed main and #3 and clearly survived but don't know=
 the limits.=20
